Wendy worked in education for 38 years. Starting her career teaching mathematics in an East London comprehensive school. Moving to Plymouth her career developed teaching in inner city schools.

At Lipson Community College (1985 -2005), she progressed to Head of Mathematics, Head of Sixth Form, leading the post 16 consortium of three schools, Assistant Principal and Vice Principal, before leaving to take up the role of Principal at Sir John Hunt (2005-2017) in Plymouth. Here she led on the development of a new building on a shared campus, introduced a sixth form to the only 11 -16 school in the city and improved outcomes for the young people. She worked in partnership with the primary and the special school on the vision for the campus and opportunities for all young people.

Wendy worked with partner secondary schools across Plymouth, chairing the secondary partnership, she also chaired the School Forum for Plymouth (2015 -2018).

Wendy continued to teach Mathematics throughout her career, she is passionate about learning for all young people.
