Alison Cook

Chair of Trustees

Alison worked as a Registered General Nurse from 1984 until she retired in 2020 as a Service Director of Children’s Services at Cornwall Council.

Director of Children’s Services at Cornwall Council.

Alison is a highly experienced senior manager with a history of working in the acute sector in both the emergency department and intensive care (ITU) as well as in the community and mental health. She gained invaluable experience working for seven years in ITU in a demanding and challenging healthcare environment in Los Angeles, California. In 2001 Alison has also obtained a Masters Degree in Advanced Nursing Studies from the University of Exeter.

On moving to Cornwall in 2003, she worked as a Community and Primary Services Manager for NHS Cornwall. After working as an Associate Director Children’s Services at Cornwall Partnership Trust for twelve years, Alison moved to Cornwall Council as the Service Director for Children’s Health and Wellbeing. Within this role she was responsible for the management of children’s community health services, Early Years, Special Educational Needs and the county Educational Psychology team.

Alison is an enthusiastic, focussed and highly motivated individual who understands the
challenges of working within a constantly changing environment. Whist working as a senior
manager Alison was an active member of the Safeguarding Children’s Board representing the health aspects of children’s health and wellbeing. She actively promoted and championed the integration of services for the benefit of children and young people in both Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
