The Steve Colwill Grant
Steve Colwill was a wonderful ambassador for schools, parents, pupils and Special Educational Needs both locally and nationally. His contribution to the field of SEN was profound - Steve championed inclusive practice, raised expectations for learners with complex needs, and continually pushed for innovative approaches. His vision was guided by deep compassion and a belief that all children, regardless of need, should have access to rich, meaningful educational opportunities.
Steve’s values were rooted in dignity, respect and collaboration. He worked tirelessly to ensure that staff felt supported, empowered and inspired in their roles. Colleagues frequently spoke of his generosity with his time, his wisdom, and his willingness to listen. He understood that strong relationships between schools, families and professionals were key to transforming outcomes for children, and he invested wholeheartedly in building those connections.
As a valued Trustee of the Special Partnership Trust, Steve helped shape strategic direction while remaining firmly grounded in the day‑to‑day realities of children, families and staff. His legacy is one of unwavering advocacy, forward‑thinking leadership, and a genuine belief in the potential of every learner.
This grant is created in recognition of Steve’s remarkable contribution.
