About Castlebridge School
Castlebridge School is a brand-new provision that is being developed in a beautiful and inspiring part of Devon and will consist of two sites. One in Tavistock and one in Ivybridge. The first site that will be opening is in Tavistock. Castlebridge School and the Tavistock Hub will predominantly be for pupils with emotionally based school avoidance and anxiety linked to autism. All pupils will have an EHCP and be processed through Devon admissions. This provision will be carefully designed to meet the needs of pupils who have often found it challenging in a mainstream school.
Castlebridge School will cater for pupils from year 3 to year 11. The Tavistock site will cater for up to 30 students within this age range.

About the role
As Caretaker you will undertake general maintenance of the school building and facilities, provide practical support in arrangements for meetings/events and to assist in maintaining the security of the school buildings.

The Special Partnership Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of checks and references, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. In accordance with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education; the Trust will undertake an online search of all shortlisted candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
- To maintain H&S compliance and property inspection / maintenance records and complete risk assessment paperwork, as required and under the direct of the Premises Supervisor
- To act as joint key holder for the site, ensuring security at all times including the operation of alarms. Through daily site inspections
- To act as deputy to the Site Supervisor and act as cover in the event of illness/absence
- To ensure keys and access control fobs are kept/issued in line with policy/procedure
- To report any major defects in building, equipment and security systems observed in the course of duties and to liaise with approved contractors / Head of School. (To visually monitor the condition of fire extinguishers, ensuring all extinguishers are regularly serviced and that hoses and fire blankets are kept in good condition)
What We Are Looking For:
- A minimum of 2 years practical experience of building and grounds maintenance work.
- Ability to work on own initiative, self-motivated.
- Good communication skills
- Comfortable with young people.
- Good practical skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Good general knowledge of building maintenance/ repairs
- Enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated and conscientious.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Level 2 NVQ, GNVQ or minimum of 5 GCSE’s (Grade C or above)
- Plus suitable trade qualification (or relevant experience).
- Level 1 qualifications may be considered if accompanied by extensive relevant experience.
- Proficient using Windows/IT systems/MS Office.
- H&S Experience in the workplace.
