Following 35 years teaching in secondary schools across England, twenty five of them as a senior leader and manager, David first moved to Cornwall in 1996 to take up the post of Deputy Head at Wadebridge School.

He then moved to Budehaven Community School as headteacher in 2002. Since retiring from headship in 2016, David is a self-employed education consultant; most of his work is in his role as the Consultant Executive Officer for Cornwall Association of Secondary Headteachers (CASH), supporting secondary school leaders in their work, organising conferences and representing them in many different local and national forums.

As well as being a Member at Special Partnership Trust, he is Vice Chair of Trustees at the local secondary school in Wadebridge (a single academy trust); is a Trustee with Aspire Academy Trust and a hub councillor at St Breock Primary School (an academy within Aspire). David is a Director and Trustee of Kernow Education Arts Partnership (KEAP).
